As we step into the third month of the year, the disc golf community is abuzz with transformations, mirroring the dynamic shifts of the weather. From the exciting announcements of tournaments and leagues to notable course enhancements and innovations in accessing disc golf information, the past month has been a whirlwind of activity within the 716 region.

This season, one of the primary goals for DiscGolf716 was to expand its content creation efforts and venture into new platforms such as YouTube. Despite initial plans being pushed aside due to other priorities like website updates, this goal is now becoming a reality. Thanks to the assistance of Dalton Pitts, whose personal YouTube page has been rebranded into the new DiscGolf716 YouTube page, we are poised for exciting developments.
Moving forward, Dalton will play a key role in producing a diverse range of engaging disc golf content, filling a gap that I wouldn't have been able to address alone given my busy schedule. Already, Dalton has announced an exciting new Match Play Series,
In addition, we're excited to announce the upcoming Top Putter Challenge, where elite putters from various esteemed winter putting leagues will converge to determine the ultimate putting champion of Western New York. WNYDGC Winterfest (02-18-2024)
Despite Mother Nature's fierce return at Winterfest in Ellicott Creek Park, disc golfers persevered and relished in the kickoff event of the WNYDGC season. Tournament Director Jeremy Hoeltke shared his reflections on the event in a Facebook post following the tournament.

Sanctioned for Science 2024 - Buffalo (CEP Charity Event) (04-06-2024)
Exciting news! Como Lake Park is set to host the inaugural "Sanctioned for Science" event, a groundbreaking XC-Tier tournament proudly supported by the PDGA Competition Endowment Program. This tournament is not only a thrilling addition to the disc golf calendar but also a meaningful initiative in support of the Center for Inquiry.

Pine Woods Park Disc Golf Course
Pine Woods Park, a venue that often finds itself in the spotlight for various reasons, is finally getting the respite it deserves. The North Tonawanda Parks and Recreation department has declared the commencement of the annual spring break at Pine Woods. Until June 1st, the city has taken the proactive measure of removing the baskets from the grounds. This temporary closure aims to provide the park with the necessary time to heal and rejuvenate from the wear and tear of the past season.
Joseph Davis State Park
Exciting news awaits disc golf enthusiasts as Joseph Davis State Park, the oldest course in Western New York, gears up for a season of rejuvenation. With the recent relocation of the Lewiston Ladies Championship to Wilson, it's evident that Joseph Davis will be receiving some well-deserved attention.
Following my recent correspondence with park officials, I'm thrilled to share that significant improvements are in the pipeline. While I'll be providing a comprehensive breakdown of the planned work in the coming weeks, it's important to note that progress is underway.
During this period of revitalization, visitors to Joseph Davis may observe construction activity. While efforts will be made to minimize disruption to gameplay, it's anticipated that the main parking lot will be impacted. For the safety of players, it is strongly recommended to utilize alternative parking near Holes 10, 11, & 12 during this period of construction at Joseph Davis State Park.
Patience is key during this transition period, as the planned enhancements promise to elevate the disc golfing experience at Joseph Davis State Park. Stay tuned for further updates as we anticipate an exciting transformation ahead!
