January proved to be a bustling month in the disc golf community, marked by the spirited kickoff of the Alex Pichette Memorial Winter Wizards tournament at the scenic Pinewoods Park Disc Golf Club. The excitement didn't stop there – a fresh indoor putting league made its debut, adding a new layer of thrill to the mix, while dedicated enthusiasts persisted in conquering the chilly winter days. The kick-off of the disc golf season unfolded at Pinewoods Park, where players faced the unforgiving embrace of chilly winds and biting cold. Nature itself posed an additional challenge throughout the entire tournament, providing a formidable backdrop for the competitors. Tournament Director Eric Fetterman recapped the event in his Jan 13th Facebook post


 
Upcoming Tournament


The WNYDGC's annual kickoff tournament, WNY Winterfest, is making a triumphant return in 2024 after a hiatus due to inclement weather and the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. This exciting announcement was shared on the WNYDGC Facebook group this morning, unveiling the eagerly awaited event scheduled to take place at Ellicott Creek Park on February 18th. Get ready for a thrilling comeback of Winterfest!



Western New York eagerly anticipates hosting the local edition of the esteemed national Ice Bowl tournament on February 24th at the Blue Dog Disc Golf Shop & Course & Rental Service. The Ice Bowl, a cherished winter disc golf event, not only seeks to raise awareness for the sport but also endeavors to generate funds for local and regional charities, with a specific focus on addressing food insecurity issues. In 2024, Blue Dog DGC takes pride in aligning with OGN Operation Good Neighbor, contributing to the greater cause while fostering the spirit of community through the shared love for disc golf. Save the date for a day of competition, camaraderie, and giving back to those in need.
